Better than Life
All the lyrics for this song were taken from scripture in Isaiah and Psalms. Although it was originally written as a love song, I realized that it is as much about our relationship with God as it is about a relationship between husband and wife. When we give our lives to God, we take on His name and are drawn into His family. I think that's pretty awesome!
Trust in the Lord
This is the oldest of all the songs on the CD. I wrote this song back in 1996. My dad was due to preach the following weekend, and he wanted me to sing. I didn't have anything that fit his theme, so I wrote this song. I love the challenges that this song addresses. Can we face our fears? Can we take steps of faith? Can we put our life in His hands? Can we trust in the Lord?
More than Words
I was sitting with my guitar one day, praying and trying to write praise and worship. I had been writing all kinds of songs, but I wanted to write something to make the Father smile, something to touch His heart, to let Him know how much I love Him. Not one idea came to mind, so I just started writing exactly what was on my heart. Unusually, no melody came to mind until months later when I was in Australia.
Rain
Mike and I married one week after I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME. We had spent the first six months of our married life battling this illness, and I was starting to get downhearted. One particularly bad day Mike turned to me and said "Baby, it can't rain all the time." I started to think about this and realized that rain has so many positive effects; it is a necessity. This led me to write these lyrics. It wasn't until a year later when I was sitting, mostly healthy, going over songs with Bill that we found the music to this song. God allows the rain, but at some point the sun will always shine again.
This Moment
This song was another born out of my need to praise God, to sing His name, to glorify Him and worship Him. It is always the prayer of my heart that we seek out moments to praise God, taking chances to worship Him.
Re-Create Me
I serve and worship a creative God. I take much comfort in the fact that He made us from the very beginning; God knows me better than I know myself. I also believe that because of sin we are now quite different from the original design. But ever the Creator, I believe He will start a re-creating process if we ask Him to, making us the men and women that He planned us to be all along.
Chasing Rainbows
A few years ago I heard the following children's story in church: A little boy woke up one morning and saw a rainbow ending in his garden. He got up and threw some clothes on and then ran outside with the aim to dance around in the light of the rainbow. He ran down the path and then stopped and looked at his hands. He could see no colour on them, so he looked up and saw the rainbow further down the path. He ran again, and again there was no colour. This continued for about an hour before the little boy, totally dejected, slumped down on a rock and started to cry. His father walked down the path and pulled the boy into his arms and asked what was wrong. The boy explained what he had been doing to his father and his father smiled. "Son," he said, "when you are in the rainbow you can't see the colours on your skin, but I have stood in that window watching you for the last hour, and all I saw was my wonderful son dancing around in the coloured light of the rainbow." The boy had found what he had been looking for all along; he just couldn't see it.

Matt helped me write this song; it has always been a favourite. While recording it I realized that we all have things that we search for in life, but sometimes we need our Father's perspective to realize that we may already have the very things we're looking for.
